Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has today revealed details of cross platform features for the PlayStation®Vita edition of Capcom’s forthcoming Street Fighter X Tekken. The long-awaited match-up between the two leaders of the fighting genre was released to critical approval on PlayStation®3 (PS3) in March, and the portable version of the title will build on this with an improved character roster as well as a host of new ways to play. PS Vita is the first console to deliver truly uncompromised games on the go – cross platform features means that PS Vita players can compete seamlessly against PS3 players; a first for the fighting genre.
Multiplayer action is at the very heart of the Street Fighter X Tekken experience and gamers can battle anywhere, anytime, using 3G connectivity to pit themselves against rivals on PS3 or PS Vita.
Data sharing between PS Vita and PS3 is a cinch – all DLC purchased for the PS3 version can be shared with PS Vita and visa versa using a save data link – there’s no need to pay for the same content twice.
f the huge roster of 43 characters from the PS3 version still wasn’t enough for you, the PS Vita edition of Street Fighter X Tekken includes a further 12 characters: Blanka, Cody, Dudley, Elena, Guy and Sakura from the Street Fighter side, and Alisa Bosconovitch, Bryan Fury, Christie Monteiro, Jack, Lars Alexandersson and Lei Wulong from the Tekken side.
With a total of 55 characters Street Fighter X Tekken undoubtedly has one of the most robust character line-ups in gaming history.
Street Fighter X Tekken is scheduled for release in autumn 2012 – ahead of this new modes, touch control features, local and Wi-Fi multiplayer plus near functionality designed for PS Vita will be revealed.
